The RISE Project (RP Wharton) is an organization that helps assign volunteer tutors to students from rural or low income communities who don’t have access to tutors. It was started at UT by Dr. Ariel Taylor, a professor of UTeach.

In order to make this as accessible to as many members as possible, we have coordinated with RISE to accommodate for “co-tutoring”, which means each volunteer will only need to commit to a minimum of 4 (four) 45 min tutoring sessions with one student. Members are of course welcome and encouraged to sign up for more. Sessions will occur once a week.

Please choose “Gamma Iota Sigma”, and if you’re not available for the whole semester, select “Finding a Co-tutor to help me throughout the semester” and choose the weeks you are available. Please complete this by Friday, September 25th. After you submit the form, the RISE coordinator will reach out to you shortly and work out the best schedule for you.
